Connecting to a Vehicle

The procedure for connecting your HP Tuners interface device to a vehicle varies based on the type of interface device you are using. Follow the steps below for your specific device.


MPVI2, MPVI2+, MPVI3, and RTD Interfaces

Using a USB Connection (Recommended with VCM Suite)

  1. Connect the USB Cable to Your PC:

    • Plug the larger end of the included USB cable into an available USB port on a laptop with VCM Suite installed.
  2. Connect the USB Cable to the Interface Device:

    • Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB Type-C port on the front of the interface device.
  3. Connect the Interface to the Vehicle:

    • Insert the large, molded OBD-II connector on the other side of the interface device into the vehicle's diagnostic port.

Using the TDN App for Mobile Devices (Bluetooth)

  1. Pair the Device via Bluetooth:

    • Follow the on-screen instructions in the TDN app to establish a connection between your mobile device and the interface.
  2. Attach the Device to the Vehicle:

    • Plug the OBD-II connector into the vehicle's diagnostic port.

MPVI (Original)

  1. Connect the USB Cable to Your PC:

    • Plug the larger end of the included USB cable into an available USB port on a laptop with VCM Suite installed.
  2. Connect the USB Cable to the Interface Device:

    • Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB Type-B port on the interface device.
  3. Attach the OBD-II Interface Cable to the Device:

    • Connect the 15-pin side of the OBD-II interface cable to the matching connector on the interface device.
  4. Connect the OBD-II Cable to the Vehicle:

    • Plug the 16-pin side of the OBD-II interface cable into the vehicle's diagnostic port.
