"The Software in Your Control Module is Outdated and Cannot Be Used" Message

Why This Happens

Certain ECMs & TCMs may have outdated software versions that are not supported by VCM Editor. When attempting to tune these modules, you will receive this message:

What Happens Next?

1. After clicking OK, VCM Editor will automatically load the latest supported software version for your module.
2. You can then make your tuning changes as needed.
3. When you write the updated file to the ECM/TCM, it will overwrite the existing software version on the module.

Important Considerations

• This new software version replaces the outdated one, ensuring compatibility with VCM Suite.
• If the ECM/TCM was previously tuned with another device, all previous changes will be lost when writing the new software version.
• If you need to preserve a custom tune, make sure to have a backup before proceeding.
