TrackAddict MPVI3 Setup and Troubleshooting
Follow these steps to set up and troubleshoot TrackAddict with MPVI3.
Step 1: Ensure MPVI3 is Activated
Before using MPVI3 with TrackAddict, it must be activated:
- Connect MPVI3 to your computer using its USB cable.
- Open VCM Editor or VCM Scanner and select Help > Resync Interface.
- If a firmware update is applied, perform Resync Interface again.
Step 2: Connect MPVI3 to Your Vehicle
- Plug the MPVI3 into the vehicle’s OBD-II port.
- Start the engine.
- Some vehicles will power down after a few minutes if the engine is off.
- Open TrackAddict and go to the Setup screen (gear icon in the left navigation bar).
- Tap the "i" gear icon on the left side to open the Options screen.
- Ensure:
- "OBD" selection is set to "Bluetooth".
- The OBD Device is set to "HP Tuners MPVI3".
- If the correct OBD device is not selected:
- Tap "Setup HP Tuners MPVI3" and follow the pairing/setup instructions.
Step 3: Verify Bluetooth Connectivity
- Your MPVI3 should appear as "HP Tuners MPVI3" in Bluetooth settings.
- If it shows "WT12A" or a similar name, it needs a firmware update.
Step 4: Use the Correct Version of TrackAddict
- Only the Android version of TrackAddict currently supports MPVI3.
- iOS support is not yet available due to Bluetooth restrictions.
Troubleshooting Connection Failures
Once MPVI3 is paired and TrackAddict is set up:
- The OBD status bar will flash red at first.
- It should change to yellow when attempting to connect.
- If the status stays red, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Check Connection Status
- Tap on the OBD status bar to view the current connection status.
- Open "Data Channels & Codes" to monitor live connection attempts.
Identify Where the Failure Occurs
- Fails at "Connecting to Interface" → Possible device or Bluetooth issue.
- Fails at "Connecting to Vehicle"→ Could be:
- Vehicle ignition is off.
- OBD port issue.
- MPVI3 is not synced (perform Resync Interface in VCM Suite).
Gather Diagnostic Information
If the connection fails after turning yellow, follow these steps:
- Open the Options screen (tap the "i" gear icon).
- Under the OBD section, tap the "i" gear icon again.
- Select "Show Connection Info".
- Send screenshots of the connection info to HP Tuners Support for further diagnosis.
