TrackAddict MPVI2 Setup and Troubleshooting

Follow these steps to set up and troubleshoot TrackAddict with MPVI2

Step 1: Ensure MPVI2 is Activated

Before using MPVI2 with TrackAddict, it must be activated:

  1. Connect MPVI2 to your computer using its USB cable.
  2. Open VCM Editor or VCM Scanner and select Help > Resync Interface.
  3. If a firmware update is applied, resync the interface again.

Step 2: Connect MPVI2 to Your Vehicle

  1. Plug MPVI2 into the vehicle’s OBD-II port.
  2. Start the engine.
    • Some vehicles will power down after a few minutes if the engine is off.
  3. Open TrackAddict and go to the Setup screen (gear icon in the left navigation bar).
  4. Tap the "i" gear icon on the left side to open the Options screen.
  5. Ensure:
    • "OBD" selection is set to "Bluetooth".
    • The OBD Device is set to "HP Tuners MPVI2".
  6. If the correct OBD device is not selected:
    • Tap "Setup HP Tuners MPVI2" and follow the pairing/setup instructions.

Step 3: Verify Bluetooth Connectivity

  • Your MPVI2 should appear as "HP Tuners MPVI2" in Bluetooth settings.
  • If it appears as "WT12A" or similar, it requires a firmware update.

Step 4: Use the Correct Version of TrackAddict

  • Only the Android version of TrackAddict supports MPVI2.
  • iOS is not currently supported due to Bluetooth restrictions.

Troubleshooting Connection Failures

Once MPVI2 is paired and TrackAddict is set up:

  • The OBD status bar will flash red at first.
  • It should change to yellow when attempting to connect.
  • If the status stays red, follow these troubleshooting steps.

Check Connection Status

  1. Tap on the OBD status bar to view the current connection status.
  2. Open "Data Channels & Codes" to monitor live connection attempts.

Identify Where the Failure Occurs

  • Fails at "Connecting to Interface" → Possible device or Bluetooth issue.
  • Fails at "Connecting to Vehicle"→ Could be:
    • Vehicle ignition is off.
    • OBD port issue.
    • MPVI2 is not synced (perform Resync Interface in VCM Suite).

Gather Diagnostic Information

If the connection fails after turning yellow, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Options screen (tap the "i" gear icon).
  2. Under the OBD section, tap the "i" gear icon again.
  3. Select "Show Connection Info".
  4. Send screenshots of the connection info to HP Tuners Support for further diagnosis.
