In addition to an MPVI2, you will need to purchase a license for each vehicle you want to tune. Licenses are purchased with HP Tuners Universal Credits.
What are credits?
Credits are the currency HP Tuners uses to sell licenses for specific vehicles for tuning. A license is tied to a vehicle's VIN and allows the MPVI2 to scan, calibrate, and edit tune files for that car. Unlicensed vehicles cannot be tuned with an MPVI2 module.
How to purchase credits?
After you register your MPVI2 at www.hptuners.com, you'll be able to purchase credits. Universal Credits cost $49.99 each. Most vehicles require between 2 and 6 credits to license. Universal credits can be used for any vehicle we support, regardless of year, make, and model. Older MPVI units used brand-specific credits. Those credits are still valid and will be accepted if they have not been used.
Recovering Credits
Due to security concerns, we cannot transfer credits from an MPVI to an MPVI2. However, if you have a lost, stolen, or replacement MPVI2, we may be able to transfer credits from one device to another. Contact Support for more information.
